Internet Explorer is not supported by Design Library

The last version of Internet Explorer, version 11, was released on October 17, 2013. This is a very long time ago when taking into account the rapid development of web technologies. These days it is often difficult and time consuming to get modern technologies to work well in this old browser. More and more frameworks are dropping support, and even Microsoft themselves has announced that they will fully drop support for IE in their own services in 2021.

Consequently, we have decided to not include support for IE in the Design Library website.

Luckily, there are modern options in active development. Please use Firefox, Edge or Chrome instead.

Modules and widgets

A widget is a subset of information derived from the module. Widgets acts as a link to its module.

Widgets

A widget is used to pull user focus from one of the top pages down to the module. It may display a hero number or just a few values from the module but can also hold information about deviations happening in the module. It acts as a link or “window” to its module, where the latter holds all information/content.

Modules

A module resides in a page and contains all information of a certain subject that might be visually represented as a multiple tables, graphs or even a forms. It could be part of a microsite/SPA or act as its own placeholder.

Example

The Startpage may have an Account-widget that just displays my favourite account that I use every day – but it also tells me if any account is over drafted. It gives me a quick shortcut to go deep in our site structure.
